At Envision Gallery just north of Taos New Mexico there will be a show for William Spencer III with reception on July 3rd, 2004 from 5-7 pm. Spencer's mixed media pieces provide cues that trigger the subconscious. "T.V. Cowgirl Angel", evokes the 50's, with a perky cowgirl posing inside a scratched, TV-shaped cube, and Howdy-Doody (unnervingly reminiscent of Pat Buchannan, in my view, who himself is unnervingly reminiscent of Sen. Joseph McCarthy) beaming down from above. A grid of what appears to be 'bolt' heads protrude above the perky cowgirl, all against a dappled background of pale green, red, and cream.
